Coordinator, United Nations Development Fund for Women, UNIFEM Aceh
Tsunami Projects, Banda Aceh, Indonesia (January – September 2005)
I organized a quick needs assessment in terms of relief and recovery
including livelihoods, protection, psycho social interventions and
NGOs; developed a detailed implementation plan which identifies
specific priorities, quick impact projects, budgets and time frames;
identified and mobilized implementing partners; organized
capacity-building efforts for members of women's networks and
organizations with the help of capable training
organizations/support groups; monitored the work of the
implementation partners through clear work plans and time bound
deliverables; participated in coordination meetings on the ground
convened by the UN as required; prepared periodic reports.
Founder and Board Member, Aceh Relief Fund, Ithaca, NY (December
2004 – present)
In response to the need for a long term people-to-people commitment
for Aceh’s future reconstruction and redevelopment after the quake
and tsunami disaster emergency relief, with some friends at Cornell
University, I set up a relief fund to help local Acehnese
initiatives in education, health and livelihood. My tasks includes,
strategic planning, implementing, evaluating, and trouble-shooting

Founder and Chair, Reading Society Foundation, Banda Aceh
Indonesia (January 2004 – present)
With some concerned Acehnese professionals, mostly educators, I set
up, plan, direct and evaluate programs on literacy projects for Aceh
Kids. I also maintain the website when I am on study leave.

I initiate and coordinate a number of Acehnese intellectuals in
producing “inside” concepts, ideas, and planning for Aceh
reconstruction in education, economy, social-politics, culture, and

As a graduate teaching assistant I proctored, graded exams, and
maintained online database of Macroeconomics and International Trade
course.
Statistical and Computer Consultant, School of Textile and
Apparel, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY (September 2003 – March
2004)
I did statistical data analysis and wrote reports on the study of
relations between apparel/equipments and safety in applying
pesticides among New York, Minnesota, and Iowa farmers.

September – December 2001 (part-time, while initiating a
Ph.D. program)
As a graduate teaching assistant I graded and proctored exams of
statistics related subject in the university.
Graduate Research Assistant, University of Vermont, Burlington-VT
August 2000 – May 2001 (part-time, while pursuing MS degree)
As a graduate research assistant I developed, evaluated, wrote and
presented a report on Accident Prediction Models for Intersections
in Urban and Rural Area of Vermont, for the Vermont Agency of
Transportation. The work was used as the required research project
for my MS degree.
Lecturer
Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh, Indonesia, 1993–present (on
study leave)
As a lecturer, my responsibility was to teach statistical-related
undergraduate and graduate courses such as Elementary Statistics,
Statistical Mathematics, Statistical Methods, Statistical Quality
Control, Correlation & Regression Analysis, Multivariate Statistical
Analysis, and related Laboratory works. Also, I assisted in various
faculties’ researches throughout the university by performing
statistical and data analysis.
Initiator and Program Coordinator
The Rector Forum of Indonesia (Forum Rektor), Aceh Chapter,
1998-1999
As an initiator, I initiated and set-up the Aceh chapter of the
Forum by consolidating resources after attending national workshops
held by the Forum and sponsored by NDI-UNDP. The forum was
established to safeguard democratization and reformation in
Indonesia. I worked closely with other sections of Indonesia/Aceh
civil society: teachers, students, journalist, media (especially
radio and newspaper), informal leaders, and women groups. As a
program coordinator, my responsibility was to set-up programs for
training of trainers, training of volunteers and deployments, which
included planning, meetings, evaluations, transportation, and
logistics.
Applied Statistics Laboratory Assistant
Department of Mathematics, Syiah Kuala University, Indonesia,
1995-1999
As a laboratory assistant, I developed laboratory manual and
regulations. I also assisted students in performing laboratory
activities.
Undergraduate Research, Philips Electronics, Surabaya, Indonesia,
August–December 1992
I evaluated and provided data analysis for quality control and
incorporated statistical methods to reliability study of the Philips
products. This was one of my undergraduate projects.
